The Namm show came and went again this year and as usual it was awesome! I saw many friends in the industry, saw some cool gear, and always some great players. the highlight this year was spending a fair amount of time at Taylor Guitars and checked out the new Grand Orchestra-GO (the Jumbo replacement for Taylor), awesome guitar! Had a nice conversation with Andy Powers (head luthier at Taylor)) was amazing. I asked him "how are people digging the new GO?" His reply was so cool, he said something along the lines of, 'people seem to be enjoying it and have said nice things. The real test for me is in a year or two to hear the songs that people have written / recorded with it, that will be a much better test to the success of the instrument.' How awesome is that??? I realized in that moment what a cool gig he has. He is waiting to see what future 'hits' (for lack of a better word) will be penned and recorded on something he created, freaking awesome!
On Sunday, the last day of NAMM, we did our first live broadcast for the ultimate guitar show, had a handful of invited friends show up to watch, participate and offer valuable feedback to help the quality and delivery of future shows, it was so much fun and really took me back to my tv/broadcast start 13 years ago doing the live digevent show "Guitar Mania". During the show, I talked about NAMM, taught some picking exercises, an acoustic riff and showed a few videos from NAMM as well as a recent vacation to Santa Barbara where I wrote the acoustic riff I taught. All of these videos and tabs are available at marcseal.com/forum under the 'Marc's vid's' Section. See you back here soon. All the best,
Happy new year bro-heads and bro-headettes! 2013 is shaping up to be an awesome year as we are currently putting the final touches on the new website which is going to be so much fun and really a lot of content and interaction. We have been working on it for over a year and will have some beta version going up in the next couple of weeks.
As you know, winter NAMM 2013 is right around the corner so I thought it would be fun to give you guys (and gals) a little exclusive. I will be doing a live broadcast on Sunday, January 27th 4pm PST (7pm EST) and test the new site and sounds of marcseal.com. It will be live and interactive, I plan to show you some clips of what I find at NAMM and simply hang out like the old Guitar Mania days so get your questions ready as it will be user driven content as well as whatever I prepare to inspire you!
I got my tour schedule for Taylor Guitars spring roadshows and hopefully I am coming to a location near you, if so, you better come out and say hello and enjoy an amazing night of cool guitars, wonderful conversation and who knows, maybe you'll win a little something! The dates and locations will be posted at marcseal.com as soon as they are confirmed!
This is the year to start really reaching for your musical dreams and hopefully I can be a part of that journey as well as all of us at marcseal.com. Let's all help out, encourage each other, answer questions, and post our own progress and struggles. Together, iron can sharpen iron and we can all have a very successful 2013! See ya on Sunday, January 27th!
